All-Ukrainian Charitable Foundation “Velyka Rodyna”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Acting in accordance with the current legislation and its Statute; Contributing to the implementation of programs for national-cultural development; Promoting wide access for all segments of the population to the creativity of Taras Shevchenko; Considering the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth as a nationwide event of exceptional importance; Supporting the Decrees of the President of Ukraine and the orders of the Cabinet of Ministers on measures to prepare for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth and expressing readiness to cooperate with all state institutions and public organizations for their implementation; Recognizing the significance of Taras Shevchenko’s philosophical, literary, and artistic heritage; Seeking to encourage the exploration of Taras Shevchenko’s figure and his works in Ukrainian art for the development of Ukrainian culture and public opinion in the European and global context; Aiming to produce a modern feature film using the language of cinema and created with an original dramatic plot, in which the figure of Taras Shevchenko, a genius artist and the founder of the modern Ukrainian project, will be vividly and artistically presented; Announces a film project competition dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth.<\/em><\/p>\n

The principles of the competition are as follows:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The competition is international. Participation in the competition is open to both Ukrainian citizens and citizens of other countries.<\/li>\n
  2. The competition is open. Participation in the competition is open to all applicants without age, professional, or other restrictions.<\/li>\n
  3. The competition is independent. In cooperation with the conduct of the competition, the “Velyka Rodyna” Foundation invites renowned cinematographers, writers, scholars, representatives of public organizations, and charitable foundations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Representatives of the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema and the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine, as well as other relevant state institutions and organizations, are invited to the competition as observers.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. The competition is public:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n
      • Each stage of the competition is held publicly;<\/li>\n
      • The Regulations and Terms of the competition are printed and widely advertised in the media, including abroad;<\/li>\n
      • The progress of the competition events is extensively covered in the media, including foreign media;<\/li>\n
      • The media is invited to all public events within the competition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        1. The competition consists of two stages:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          First stage: screenplay development competition (treatments), based on the results of which a professional jury determines the three best screenplay developments for participation in the second stage of the competition.<\/p>\n

          The authors (author groups) of the three best screenplay developments submitted for participation in the second stage of the competition will be offered contracts for property rights to future screenplays, while retaining their authorship.<\/p>\n

          Each of the three authors (author groups) selected for the second stage of the competition will receive financial support of $1,500 in equivalent for the preparation of the second stage.<\/p>\n

          Second stage: screenplay and film project competition, culminating in their public defense (pitching) before a wide public jury.<\/p>\n

          In the case of successful defense of all three film projects in the pitching session, the prize fund of the competition, totaling $25,000 in equivalent, will be distributed among their authors.<\/p>\n

          Other awards and rewards from the competition partners are also possible.<\/p>\n

            \n
          1. The “Velyka Rodyna” Foundation reserves the right, together with other interested parties and organizations, to determine the principles of financing the film production process and the extent of participation in it.<\/li>\n
          2. During the film production process, the “Velyka Rodyna” Foundation will monitor this process in the manner determined by it in agreement with other interested parties.<\/li>\n
          3. During and after the completion of production, the “Velyka Rodyna” Foundation will undertake appropriate work to promote the film in Ukraine and abroad.<\/li>\n
          4. The “Velyka Rodyna” Foundation reserves the right, together with other interested parties and organizations, to determine the principles of distribution and dissemination of the film in Ukraine and abroad.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            The “Velyka Rodyna” Foundation wishes success to all participants of the competition and hopes that its conduct will contribute to the achievement of the set goals, with the most important goal being the premiere of the film throughout Ukraine’s cinema network and its international premiere on the eve of a significant date, March 9, 2014.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
