On March 12, the Shevchenko Readings took place at the National Academy of Internal Affairs on the occasion of the 204th anniversary of the birth of the Great Kobzar.

The solemn event was initiated and supported by the Charity Fund “Velyka rodyna”. Among the participants were the Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Serhiy Knyazev, the Director of the Taras Shevchenko Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Mykola Zhulynskyi, the Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of the Charity Fund “Velyka rodyna”, Vira Ulyanchenko, cadets and students of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine universities, as well as employees and servicemen from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and the National Guard of Ukraine.

Opening the literary and artistic event, Sergiy Knyazev, on behalf of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, greeted all the participants and honored guests of the “Shevchenko Readings.” He emphasized that the conclusions drawn by the youth while studying the works of Taras Shevchenko are essential for the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Throughout the event, Shevchenko’s poems were recited, and musical compositions based on his verses were performed by cadets, students, and musical groups. Additionally, the winners of the recitation competition among the institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were acknowledged and awarded during the occasion.

Participants and guests at the academy had a wonderful opportunity to explore the exhibition of fine arts from the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, as well as folk towels crafted by the talented artisan Lyubov Konopko. They also had the chance to see postage stamps with Shevchenko-themed designs and various editions of “Kobzar” from different years, among other exhibits, in the foyer of the academy.
