As part of the KUSANONE Cultural Projects Support Program, the Government of Japan will provide a grant to the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater of Ukraine. This funding will help modernize stage lighting and enhance the theater’s technical capabilities.

On December 5, 2024, the National Opera of Ukraine hosted a formal signing ceremony for the grant agreement. The event was attended by H.E. Mr. Matsuda Nakagome, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine, as well as representatives of the Great Family charitable foundation, which will oversee the procurement and delivery of equipment in accordance with the grant terms.

Japan continues to support Ukraine in preserving and developing its national culture. Through this initiative, the theater will have the opportunity to upgrade its technical equipment, ensuring that its performances meet global standards of stage artistry.

The KUSANONE Program has been successfully operating for many years, focusing on supporting cultural and social initiatives while strengthening friendly ties between Ukraine and Japan.
